THREE engine failures so far at Daytona! This is very unsettling! Hopefully Mr. Hendrick can get this problem figured out before everything is ruined.
If I am Rick Hendrick I am now getting on my hovercraft or helicopter and getting to Concord to meet face to face with my engine builders!

I came here to be the seemingly obligatory douche who complains about the pushrods.
THIS DOES NOT REFLECT MY OPINION OR THE OPINION OF THIS NETWORK.

At least someone responded to my shitty post. I should just title every post with, "Wow, 3spd Manual Diesel Wagon!!" It would be covered in Oppo jizm.

Did they say what broke?

I find it interesting that they can rev a pushrod engine to 9400.

Nothing yet. I am sure we will hear more before the Budweiser Duels.

Apparently the drivers feel like it is something on the bottom end. The GM of HMS is stating that HMS is trying to get too much out of the motors, so it doesn't sound like a specific component.

Reher-Morrison's pro stock motors will rev to almost 11,000.

Some teams are running a rev limit chip set at 10,500 rpm, and I've heard some of those engines smack the limiter on track.

I have heard that on occasion.

You can get anything to 9,400 RPM with enough POWAHHH!!!

The least that can be said about NASCAR pushrods is that Chevy is still getting valuable information out of their NASCAR engine operation. I personally would love to see an LS vs Ecoboost V6 vs 2JZ battle around Daytona.

nascar will never allow it. ford has a history of having superior engines turned down for competition due to other manufacturer's complaints.
google 427 SOHC for more info..... and ford had cylinder heads banned from nascar iin the 90's because chevy whined, those were the X303 heads I think.
that's ok though, while Chrysler was whining about the cammer, Ford had bigger fish to fry....like kicking Ferrari's ass

My favorite excuse for banning the Cammer was "OHC is dangerous because a timing chain could break and send debris into the stands." And with that, no debris ever went into the stands during a NASCAR race ever again.
Unlike the hundreds of spectators who die and the thousands who get injured every year at F1, Indycar, and sports car races as timing chains shatter at high speed, sending links into the stands like so much buckshot.
